Pancake Breakfast 2/19/12

Come enjoy an all you can eat breakfast at the West Monroe Fire Station on Sunday Morning 2/19/2012 from 8:00 - Noon

The menu includes Eggs made to order, Pancakes, French Toast, Ham, Sausage, Toast, Juices,Milk Hot Cocoa and Coffee

 

 
 
West Monroe Responds to Structure Fire

 

On Monday January 16th at about 4:00 P.M. the West Monroe Fire Department was dispatched for a structure fire with smoke and flames showing. Assistant Chief Kevin Davis was command officer. Responding from West Monroe were Engines 3311 and 3312, and rescues 3362 and 3363. Assisting were Central square with Engines 541 and 512, Rescue 561 and Constantia with Engine 811 and Rescue 862. Upon arrival of the first in units the fire had mostly consumed the garage and was starting to spread to the living area. Crews from West Monroe and Central Square quickly moved inside and stopped the fire at the wall between the house and garage. Ceilings were removed to check for extension and the building was ventilated.  Crews returned to service at about 7:45 P.M.

 

 

 
 
West Monroe Responds to Structure Fire
 
Sunday November 27th at about 11:30 PM the West Monroe Volunteer Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on Hillview Drive. Assistant Chief Giamartino( 3303) arrived on the scene first and reported a working fire. Chief Boughton(3301) and Assistant Chief Davis(3302) arrived moments later and assumed Command and Operations. Mutual Aid was called from Central Square( Engine, Tanker, Rescue), Constantia(Engine, Rescue, Tanker), Hastings(Engine and Tanker), Caughdenoy, Mexico and Parish(Tanker).
Engines 3311 and 541 operated at the scene, Engine 3312 was providing water supply and Engine 1111 filled tankers. The fire was under control in about an hour, overhaul took a few hours. Units returned to service about 4:00 AM Monday Morning.

The Fire Department is doing much needed renovations on the fire station. Work on both the interior and exterior is progressing. These pictures show the exterior siding on the building be applied. The new siding is a combination of foam insulation and cement layers troweled on. There were several members involved in doing the preparation work resulting in large cost savings.

West Monroe Fire Department Conducts Training at Oswell County Emergency Response Training Center(ETC)
 
Several members of the West Monroe Fire Department  took extra time to spend a training night in Oswell at the County Training Facility. 20 members made the trip leaving the station at about 5:15 P.M. to begin drill at 6:00 P.M. Members practiced multiple skills including fire suppression, forcible entry and emergency bail outs. Click here to see more pictures

West Monroe Fire Department Begins Station Upgrades
 
The West Monroe Fire Department has begun a project to make improvements to the Fire Station. Soon there will be a new exterior siding replacing the 30 year old wood siding. The new siding will be much more energy efficient. Other improvements will be made.

West Monroe Conducts Fire Operations Drill
 
On Tuesday May 17th the West Monroe Fire Department conducted a training session involving several aspects of an initial fire attack. Using Engines 3311 and 3312, Rescue 3363 and Tanker 3351 the firefighters practiced initial attack setup, tanker fill and dump operations and water supply from a dry hydrant. The drill started at 19:00 and concluded with the apparatus and equipment in service at 22:00.

West Monroe Conducts Water Rescue Drill
 
On Tuesday 5-24-2011 West Monroe Firefighters held a water rescue drill at Johnson Bay Marina. Firefighters reviewed the procedures for working on the rescue boat and also simulated rescuing injured people from the water.
